Jesus Christ is the foundation of everything we believe and teach at CityLife Durban. He is the One we give our lives to in worship and in service with all our hearts. The Bible teaches that Jesus is the Son of God, that He came to the earth, not to condemn mankind it but to save us, by giving His life in our place. Through His death on the cross, His resurrection and ascension, we are forgiven, restored, and given eternal life. Church, by definition, means those who have been saved by Jesus, gathered in one place, serving His purposes together in community through covenant relationship with Jesus and each other.
Jesus Offers New Life
The Gospel is clear: salvation is a free gift, not something we earn. Jesus calls us to be “born again” — a spiritual transformation where old things pass away and new life begins. This new life comes to those who confess His Name, repent and believe that He is the only way to know God, and accept the work he has done on their behalf on the cross. This faith in Him brings forgiveness, peace, and freedom from sin.
Why We Need Jesus
Scripture teaches us , “All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Sin separates us from God, an puts us under God’s Judgment and condemnation. But God so loved the world that he gave His only Son, Jesus who bridges the gap between us and God by taking our punishment on Himself. His resurrection proves His victory over death, making Him the only way to eternal life (John 14:6).
Jesus is Alive Today
Following Jesus is not so much about religion, which is man’s attempts to find God and to know Him, but rather it’s about a personal relationship with God, offered to us through Jesus Christ. Whoever believes, no matter what our past failures, weakness or strengths, have this offer available to us. Receive Jesus today, He has promised to never leave us or forsake us. He has promised to walk with us daily, through trials and victories, to give us His Holy Spirit and to guide and empower us.
